Online birth and death registration activities are conducted through Union Parishads, Municipalities, Cantonment Boards, City Corporations and Bangladesh Missions / Embassies located abroad. Birth and death registration activities are being conducted through the Office of the Registrar General, Birth and Death Registration Birth and Death Registration Information (BERISH). The theme of National Birth Registration Day 2020 is "Registration of births and deaths within 45 days of protection of civil rights."


Birth registration is the registration of a person's name, gender, date and place of birth, name of parents, their nationality and permanent address under the 'Birth and Death Registration Act, 2004 (Act No. 29 of 2004). And birth certificates are issued. Birth certificate protects the rights of a child. The birth certificate has to be collected by the parents or guardians of the child by providing the birth related information to the registrar within 45 days of the birth of the child.
